This garden measures just 13X8m and was in need of a major revamp. The patio was too small for purpose, the beds were far too narrow to support plants and the end of the garden was dark and unloved. After landscaping, the patio is large enough for entertaining and the pergola with the trellis forms a separate room without visually shrinking the garden. The shape and new style complements the 'square' 1970s architecture with David Austin climbing roses planted to grow over and soften the hard structure. This garden has grown and changed so much. The photo was taken in its infancy. To the right of the main photo the then young lolly-pop Bay tree has grown hugely and in 2018 was home to a nest of blackbirds.
